S3.C12. Adam’s Journey Begins: Becoming a Watchful Spirit
Every great explorer starts with one skill — observation. This week, Adam becomes a Watchful Spirit: slowing down, sensing the unseen, and finding meaning in the smallest details.
As told by DAV79
“Adam, I think you're ready,” DAV79 said, looking across at the boy who had no idea just how much potential was resting quietly within him.
It began with a simple invitation. “If you have a computer, we’ll send everything to your mom’s email.” A few mix-ups with the email address delayed things, but soon enough, they were ready to begin.
This wasn’t just a routine call — it was the beginning of something meaningful. A journey inward and forward.
DAV79 introduced the program. “We’re bringing you into something called Global Citizens — a community where young people around the world learn to tackle real challenges, build unshakable mindsets, and turn learning into action.”
He broke it down so Adam could see the bigger picture. “The year is split into four quarters, each with its own theme. This one? No Giving Up. We’re focusing on mental endurance, adaptability, and determination.”
Adam listened closely, his curiosity stirred.
DAV79 pointed out something powerful: “You’ve already named two key mindsets — working hard, and working smart. The first is resilience. The second is adaptability. You’re already thinking like a Global Citizen without even knowing it.”
He walked Adam through what was coming next — from No Giving Up to Critical Thinking and Discovery, then Sustainability, and finally Entrepreneurship.
“You don’t need to lead others to be a leader,” DAV79 said firmly. “But you do need to lead your own life. And for that, you must be strong — especially in your mind.”
Adam seemed uncertain, so DAV79 pushed a little further:
“There are only two types of people: those who make their own choices… and those who wait for life to decide for them. Which one do you want to be?”
Adam didn’t pause this time.
“The one who chooses.”
“Exactly.”
The Watchful Spirit
Together, they opened Chapter 11 — The Season of the Watchful Spirit.
DAV79 invited Adam to close his eyes.
“What do you sense?”
Adam responded slowly. “A table… a cup… traffic… wind…”
Layer by layer, DAV79 guided him into a deeper awareness. “This isn’t just about seeing — it’s about perceiving. To be a Watchful Spirit, you must slow down. Listen beyond the noise. Let your senses guide you. Ask questions. Stay curious.”
They read the story of Isabella — a young girl overwhelmed by upcoming exams. But instead of staying trapped in stress, she ventured into the mountains, laughed with friends, and embraced stillness. And through that, she healed.
DAV79 asked, “What’s this story about, Adam?”
Adam thought for a moment. “It’s about enjoying life... changing how you feel.”
“Exactly,” DAV79 nodded. “And that kind of change needs tools. Mindset tools.”
The Challenge
Then came the part where Adam had to decide.
DAV79 laid out three mindset challenges:
Challenge 1: Active Listening – Deep focus, asking questions, and opening the mind.
Challenge 2: Patience & Curiosity – Observing without rushing, understanding emotions.
Challenge 3: Empathy & Sensibility – Sensing others even when they say nothing.
Adam chose Challenge 1.
“Your mission,” DAV79 explained, “is simple. Find a quiet place — a park, a corner at home, anywhere. Sit for 10 to 15 minutes with no phone, no distractions. Just listen. What do you notice? What have you never heard before? Write it down.”
They agreed to meet again on Saturday ONLINE. Adam would share what he discovered. But Adam could nt make it as he was in a birthday party and had no access to the computer.
Start by reading chapter 12 carefully — as you reach the end, you’ll find a set of challenges.
Choose the one that resonates most with you, work on it, and get ready to present your insights next Saturday.
The dial-in details and timing are provided at the end of Chapter 12.
“From here,” DAV79 said, “you’ll train every week — like a warrior of the mind. Step by step. Thought by thought. And we will make you a Global Champion”
Becoming Global
Before they ended the session, DAV79 painted a bigger picture. You may have missed Q1 - about leadership - but we will get you ready. More importantly read all the stories and tell me how you would have improved that at school - at your academics. Let’s build up your application in Mathematics and you would love that too.
“There will be boot camps, mindset reports, persona cards. But more than that, Adam — this is about growth. Real growth. The kind that prepares you for anything, anywhere.”
Adam smiled, still unsure — but lighter, more open.
“Do you want to train your mind?” DAV79 asked.
“Maybe,” Adam said. “I like being alone.”
“That’s okay,” DAV79 assured him. “Strength often begins in solitude. But growth… real growth… comes when you let the world in, one challenge at a time. No more outsiders.”
At that moment, a small puppy nuzzled around Adam’s feet. He bent down and began to play.
It was a simple gesture — but to DAV79, it was the first sign of something shifting. A quiet boy taking his first step. Toward the world. Toward himself. Toward something bigger. This was not just for the kid alone - his mom would be there - and the entire team at Fundamental Decisions would be ready to welcome him and train with him.
